of Chinese Ecotourism comprises four sections (General Section, Specified Section, Feature Section,
and Information Section), and with a total of 20 columns. Each issue typically
covers 3 to 5 columns.
Specifically:
The General Section comprises three columns:
(1) Theoretical exploration: Comprehensive articles exploring topics such as tourism science theory, major ecotourism issues, and methodologies in tourism science.
(2) Research reviews: Systematic summaries and evaluations of research progress and current status in key areas of ecotourism, along with forward-looking suggestions for future research directions.
(3) Typical discussions: Specialized academic discussions focusing on specific scientific or topical issues, encouraging the exchange of diverse academic perspectives.
The Specialized Section comprises six columns:
(1) Ecotourism resources: Covering tourism resource classification, surveys, evaluations, capacity assessments, and zoning.
(2) Ecosystem services and tourism economy: Addressing ecosystem service functions, value and cost assessments, utilization efficiency evaluations, resource allocation, and economic aspects of ecotourism development and utilization.
(3) Ecotourism space and land use: Discussing the spaces for ecotourism development, spatial development boundaries, usage patterns, and tourism urbanization.
(4) Social impact and community participation of Tourism: Examining the social and cultural impacts of ecotourism on tourist destinations, community tourism, resident perceptions, livelihoods, and participation.
(5) Tourism environmental impact and ecological technology: Exploring the environmental impacts of ecotourism development and activities, the application of remote sensing, GIS technology, mathematical modeling in ecotourism research, and innovative technologies and approaches in ecotourism development and utilization.
(6) Sustainable tourism and ecotourism management: Addressing strategies, policies, property rights systems, legislation, and other aspects related to the sustainable development of ecotourism.
The Feature Section comprises seven columns:
(1) Rural tourism: Covering aspects such as production space of rural tourism, industrial transformation, industry integration, community impacts, as well as the integration of ecotourism with rural revitalization, poverty alleviation, prosperity, border stability, cultural heritage protection, and inheritance, etc.
(2) Urban tourism: Including urban tourism resources, spatial utilization, tourist transport, tourism environment, cultural heritage protection, and inheritance, etc.
(3) Forest and grassland tourism: Encompassing types, quantity, quality, and geographical distribution of forest and grassland tourism resources, as well as their rational development, utilization, protection, and management.
(4) Marine and river tourism: Covering types, quantity, quality, and geographical distribution of marine and river tourism resources, as well as their rational development, utilization, protection, and management.
(5) Geological tourism: Addressing types, quantity, quality, and geographical distribution of geological tourism resources, as well as their rational development, utilization, protection, and management.
(6) Phenological tourism: Discussing types, quantity, quality, and spatiotemporal distribution of phenological tourism resources, as well as their rational development, utilization, protection, and management.
(7) Natural reserve tourism: Including the rational development, utilization, protection, and management of various types of ecotourism resources, such as national parks and nature parks, within natural reserves.
The Information Section comprises four columns:
(1) Academic news and updates: Bulletin (newsletter) on innovative progress and significant academic events, including academic conference notifications.
(2) New book reviews: Recommendations and assessments of newly published books in ecotourism and related disciplines.
(3) Ecotourism case studies: Presentations of exemplary ecotourism projects, initiatives, technologies, and their corresponding experiences both domestically and internationally.
(4) Research institutions and achievements: Introduction of research outcomes from educational institutions in ecotourism and research bodies at provincial and ministerial levels, along with achievements in ecotourism projects.
